Well, since we really like you, we’ve decided to show us a sweet new thingy you could use for your facebook page. You know how on your page you get to see a mismatch of photos you posted in your albums? Mostly unrelated and sometimes showing off precisely that haircut you want to forget you ever took? Yeah? Me too. *cue sales pitch*In that case – check out the new Facebook Banner Generator! It’s all free and available to everyone, plus, my friend who deals with the generator is opened for suggestions. Feel free to check out his page right here . Most of the images there were suggested by my Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, The Borgias obsessed mind. But since he takes requests, you can leave a comment on this post and ask for something different. This is what I am using at the moment for my Facebook banner, hold the drool girls! I couldn’t really pass on the opportunity of staring into Norman Reedus’s eyes each time I turn on my Facebook page, now could I? To still maintain the illusion that I am a professional I will hold on the bragging and move onto another sample of another [...]
Meet the New Boss – Supernatural
**HERE BE SPOILERS** One of my favourite tv shows returned with a new season and also with quite a bang. After a season of hit and miss episodes, the show came back bigger and better than before. I admit I was having very low expectations and I have successfully managed to avoid all form of spoilers and trailers until the episode aired last night so I was quite blown away by how the story unfolded. We had the chance to ease ourselves back into the lives of the Winchester duo and their faithful sidekick Bobby (yeah, I know, he’s not a sidekick) with a slow start. Let’s just say it all went kaboom after a few minutes of relative peace and quiet. What with Sam having intermitent hallucinations of Hell, Castiel going on a righteous fight against those he deemed unworthy of God(or of himself in this instance) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) being reinstated as King of Hell, it was bound to be exciting and it sure was. The acting was superb – Jared Padalecki was amazing as a haunted by his time in the cage Sam, Jensen Ackles shined as a disappointed friend who was humiliated and mocked and as [...]
Supernatural Party tonight!
Yet again, the lovely sponsors – yes, ourselves included – have decided to make you guys happier by giving away some awards. Since the new season is bound to start in about 3 months we’re having a party tonight! Probably to celebrate the last of the good old days? Or is that just the cynic within me speaking? Anyways, we’re giving away this very cool t-shirt, if you want it, follow the contest instructions. This is our prize Now, if you want to win it, follow the rules, buy raffle tickets and help rebuilding places affected by horrible tragedies. Best of luck to everyone and let’s have as much fun with this party as we can! Remember all the money goes to charity, so don’t be skimpy! Since we’re lucky, we have another prize for you, this time a small contest will give you the award. All you have to do is leave the best comment on why you think the new season will rock (or suck), we’ll pick the best of the bunch and poof! instant winner. We won’t show any bias regarding your opinion, just keep it articulated and try to be polite. It can be a reply to [...]
Supernatural – The man who would be king (or not)
I usually do the whole recap/review thing for every episode, but I skipped a couple – the wild west one and the one where Eve dies somewhat anticlimactically after being a rather preeminent villain for the course of the season. They were both great episode in my opinion (except for the whole Eve thing – she died a bit like Crowley…oh, wait!) building up to the season finale. Not having watched any spoilers I don’t really have any expectations one way or another about the episodes that will end the season, however I had huge expectations about the latest Supernatural installment. We were to find out the story of Castiel(Misha Collins), solve the mystery of Crowley’s(Mark Sheppard) survival and all that and yet I wasn’t satisfied with what I got. First of all, lately Supernatural seems to have turned into a fanfiction of sorts. Each episode makes one part of the fandom or another happy. We get hints of slash between Dean and Castiel, hints of whatever pairing the fans are shipping at the moment, the story alters based on fans desires, which isn’t always a bad thing, but it’s not a good thing either. I feel proud, I have [...]
Hiatus or “Hellatus”
Some TV series (mostly American) have this thing that is incomprehensible to me called hiatus. It brings unnatural levels of frustration to all fans of a TV show, particularly if the show is new and hasn’t really had the change to settle in among its fellow ratings challengers. Let’s take The Event for example. I once wrote an article naming it the best TV series of 2010. And I genuinely thought that about it. I was all excited about character development, storylines and pretty much everything else. Then the hiatus came and quite frankly I haven’t watched an episode since. I am sure they won’t miss me, but I am also sure I am not the only one to have given up on the show. I’ll wait for the show to be complete and maybe, just maybe I’ll watch it then. Not the first time it happened. Supernatural has ridiculous hiatuses too. It starts in September, goes on vacation in December, comes back for four or five episodes and then we are slammed with yet another hiatus. Of course the producers of the show know they can always count on one of the most dedicated fanbases around to always return [...]
How not to kill a fan favourite character!
Some writers fail horribly every now and again at giving a beloved character a proper departure. Instead of a hero’s death they get the boot in the most unceremonious way possible. Here is some character deaths that brought a lot of bad press to various shows. 10.Lucy Knight (Kellie Martin) – E.R. One of the perky, happy go lucky optimistic doctors, Lucy quickly gained the hearts of the viewers. Always ready to help out and with a sharp mind she managed to establish herself as a fan favourite quite fast. Alas she was murdered in a way that had all of the E.R. fans up in arms – stabbed almost to death, saved on the table (dramatic so far) then she dies of a pulmonary embolism(not so much dramatic as plain unworthy of her character). Don’t get me wrong, I get that death is something that happens suddenly and it’s not always heroic, but this is television, I expect lies to be served with pretty little bows around them. 9. Alex Ryan (Aaron Jeffrey) – McLeod’s Daughter After playing the character of Alex Ryan for six and a half seasons and being the last remaining character from the original [...]
