**HERE BE SPOILERS** One of my favourite tv shows returned with a new season and also with quite a bang. After a season of hit and miss episodes, the show came back bigger and better than before. I admit I was having very low expectations and I have successfully managed to avoid all form of spoilers and trailers until the episode aired last night so I was quite blown away by how the story unfolded. We had the chance to ease ourselves back into the lives of the Winchester duo and their faithful sidekick Bobby (yeah, I know, he’s not a sidekick) with a slow start. Let’s just say it all went kaboom after a few minutes of relative peace and quiet. What with Sam having intermitent hallucinations of Hell, Castiel going on a righteous fight against those he deemed unworthy of God(or of himself in this instance) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) being reinstated as King of Hell, it was bound to be exciting and it sure was. The acting was superb – Jared Padalecki was amazing as a haunted by his time in the cage Sam, Jensen Ackles shined as a disappointed friend who was humiliated and mocked and as [...]
Supernatural Finale
The two part finale of Supernatural came and went but it left destruction in its wake. I am not joking, fans were devastated, Twitter was like a pillaged village after the barbarians invaded, the fangirls cries were heard worldwide…Yeah, all in all it was something you could not ignore. In order to keep the spoilers to a minimum(a task at which I fail constantly) I’ll refrain from leaking to much information. Let’s see what happened though. As we know Castiel has been on the fence between good and evil for quite a while, his dealings with Crowley had most fans screaming in dismay, but his actions were justified by the – he is cute so he must be good logic – and people moved on. Alas, things were not so rosy after the finale. In the first part of the night – Let it Bleed, Castiel was more than unhelpful when Lisa and Ben (yes, they brought them back yet again) were kidnapped by Crowley’s goons. Remember last time when Cas threatened Crowley and ordered him to leave the boys alone? Yeah, he didn’t include other loved ones so Crowley took the family unit Dean worked hard to build and [...]
Supernatural – The man who would be king (or not)
I usually do the whole recap/review thing for every episode, but I skipped a couple – the wild west one and the one where Eve dies somewhat anticlimactically after being a rather preeminent villain for the course of the season. They were both great episode in my opinion (except for the whole Eve thing – she died a bit like Crowley…oh, wait!) building up to the season finale. Not having watched any spoilers I don’t really have any expectations one way or another about the episodes that will end the season, however I had huge expectations about the latest Supernatural installment. We were to find out the story of Castiel(Misha Collins), solve the mystery of Crowley’s(Mark Sheppard) survival and all that and yet I wasn’t satisfied with what I got. First of all, lately Supernatural seems to have turned into a fanfiction of sorts. Each episode makes one part of the fandom or another happy. We get hints of slash between Dean and Castiel, hints of whatever pairing the fans are shipping at the moment, the story alters based on fans desires, which isn’t always a bad thing, but it’s not a good thing either. I feel proud, I have [...]
Doctor Who – Day of the Moon
Well, Steven Moffat is a genius. I have said it before and I will probably say it again. Day of the Moon was the second part that brought back(with quite a bang) Doctor Who to our screens. Last week, in The Impossible Astronaut, we got to learn of a “new” alien race that has apparently taken residence on Earth, but they are so insidious you can never remember having seen them if you stop looking at them directly. Talk about nightmare fuel. Who better to save the day than The Doctor(Matt Smith)? As usual he has the help of Rory(Arthur Darvill), Amy(Karen Gillan) and River(Alex Kingston). Plus Canton on the side, cause really, Mark Sheppard has to be one of the few British actors to have never been on Doctor Who. Ironically he plays an American. The episode doesn’t quite pick up where it left off last time – the huge cliffhanger with Amy shooting the little girl in the astronaut suit, instead it starts rather suddenly with Amy, Rory and River being one by one killed by Canton. Cue the universe exploding with questions. I have already said the creators of the show(the current ones at least) are geniuses. [...]
Doctor Who returns
Last night was a big night for whovians all over the place. Doctor Who has returned for it’s sixth series(counting only the seasons from the ninth reincarnation of the epic character) and it was quite a return. The premiere was dedicated to the amazing Elisabeth Sladen, rest in peace Sarah Jane! Just like the start of the Fifth series which saw the introduction of Matt Smith as the New Doctor, this series premiere was mind-blowingly amazing, keeping me glued to my tv screen, screaming at various characters instructions to ensure their survival. But they never listen! Karen Gillan returned in The Impossible Astronaut as well in her role as Amy Pond – one of the most beloved companions after only a season – and since we can’t have Amy without Rory, Arthur Darvill comes back as well. Thank God for that, he quickly became a fan favourite, especially to women everywhere when he carefully guarded the Pandorica that held Amy inside for 1000 years. Yeah, top that guys! *SPOILERS BELOW – Don’t advance beyond this point, cause a recap will follow* Amy and Rory are eagerly awaiting for news of the Doctor who has been out of touch for a [...]
