Well, as you might have realized from my last recap of the show, the finale came this Sunday, a little too soon for my liking, but what are you gonna do? Begging the producers, actors and zombies to stop their everyday life and start filming? Hm…I wonder if that would work? I am sure I can summon up those 5-6 million viewers they had going each week and organized something. Until that cunning plan comes to fruition let’s see the best and the worse of this series that really had the world on fire. Keep in mind that those five million viewers are only the ones that got to see the show as it aired. There are several thousand or million people that used less orthodox methods of viewing – streaming, download, such and such. The point is, it went places. And now let’s see the best and the worse the show had to offer. The Best. The zombies! Oh my God! They had some of the best zombies I have ever seen. The make-up artists have become my heroes. I worship at their shrine. The little girl in the very first episode was done flawlessly, keeping an air of [...]
The Walking Dead – Vatos
This show has this really odd quality about it, in my opinion. It’s stealthily creeping upon you and then it slams you into an emotional rollercoaster that makes your head spin until the next episode comes up. To keep away from another convoluted metaphor, let’s see what happened to make me say this. I have to say, despite this show being titled The Walking Dead and featuring quite a large amount of zombies (though never referred as such), it seems to be a lot more about relationships, about family. We have Rick, his wife and child – trying to piece together their lives, Andrea desperate to get to Amy and keep her safe, Morgan and his son, Daryl and Merle and so on. Human nature is at play, issues of trust, the whole nine yards, this show has it all. As usually the show has a slow build up to the most intense scene we have seen in this series since its debut, so we get to see the struggle the characters have to go through everyday, with their emotions, with each other and with the other humans that roam the streets of Atlanta, or Walker Central. The episode starts [...]
The Walking Dead – Guts and Gore
Well, this show keeps getting better and better. But also gorier and gorier. The last episode left us wondering what will happen to our new discovered hero – Rick. He was in a tank, surrounded by thousands of zombies with only a cocky voice for company. Remember the – “Hey, you! In the tank! Cozy in there?” I do to, which is why I was a bit confused with what happened next. Well, that voice – who I thought belonged to Norman Reedus – turned all whiny in under 2 seconds predicting impending doom. OK, so it didn’t really predict impending doom, but it was just not as cool as it made itself look the previous episode. But alas before that we were regaled with a sex scene. I mean it’s a zombie show, sex is a given. All that death going on. So, we get Shane, the not so dutiful friend of Rick, and Rick’s not so faithful wife in the forest picking mushrooms. Well…that’s what they were supposed to do. They failed mushroom picking forever in my book. She at least had the decency to remove her wedding band from around her neck. In her defense, she might [...]
