Meet the New Boss – Supernatural

**HERE BE SPOILERS** One of my favourite tv shows returned with a new season and also with quite a bang. After a season of hit and miss episodes, the show came back bigger and better than before. I admit I was having very low expectations and I have successfully managed to avoid all form of spoilers and trailers until the episode aired last night so I was quite blown away by how the story unfolded. We had the chance to ease ourselves back into the lives of the Winchester duo and their faithful sidekick Bobby (yeah, I know, he’s not a sidekick) with a slow start. Let’s just say it all went kaboom after a few minutes of relative peace and quiet. What with Sam having intermitent hallucinations of Hell, Castiel going on a righteous fight against those he deemed unworthy of God(or of himself in this instance) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) being reinstated as King of Hell, it was bound to be exciting and it sure was. The acting was superb – Jared Padalecki was amazing as a haunted by his time in the cage Sam, Jensen Ackles shined as a disappointed friend who was humiliated and mocked and as [...]

Good bye, Liz Taylor

It seems that more and more often we have to say good bye to actors that have made history with their performances throughout the years. Dame Elizabeth Taylor makes no exception. As I grew up she was always a role model, a strong woman, with a good head on her shoulders unafraid to show the world she can make it on her own. The fact that she was a beauty, with violet eyes that were a legend on their own, and a talent helped cement my belief that she was a force to be reckoned with. Performances in movies such as A place under the sun, BUtterfield 8 and Who’s afraid of Virgina Wolf? – she won two academy awards for leading actress in the latter film- established Elizabeth Taylor as one of the best actresses of the century. She held roles in movies such as The Father of the Bride, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Cleopatra, movies that made cinema history, with lavish sets and amazing performances from all actors involved. When I think Liz Taylor I admit I first go to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, I think it was the first film of her [...]

Rest in peace Nicholas Courtney

Nicholas Courtney has passed away yesterday at the age of 81. This wonderful man has been a childhood hero for a lot of people as The Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart in the long time running show Doctor Who. Even for those of us who weren’t around the time he portrayed the iconic figure he is well renowned as one of the best characters to ever grace the show with his presence and few other people have become so important in the general psyche as he has. Murray Gold – composer for the revived series of Doctor Who has expressed his sadness for the departure of Nicholas Courtney on his twitter feed and Tom Baker – one of the most memorable Doctors, who has starred alongside Courtney for several years in the aforementioned show, has made a statement on his website saying that Courtney will be terribly missed. Considering the fact that he was such an iconic figure in the show’s history perhaps he will get a honorable mention in the new series? He was already remembered during The Poison Sky by the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and in the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, a further proof that [...]
