Supernatural Finale

The two part finale of Supernatural came and went but it left destruction in its wake. I am not joking, fans were devastated, Twitter was like a pillaged village after the barbarians invaded, the fangirls cries were heard worldwide…Yeah, all in all it was something you could not ignore. In order to keep the spoilers to a minimum(a task at which I fail constantly) I’ll refrain from leaking to much information. Let’s see what happened though. As we know Castiel has been on the fence between good and evil for quite a while, his dealings with Crowley had most fans screaming in dismay, but his actions were justified by the – he is cute so he must be good logic – and people moved on. Alas, things were not so rosy after the finale. In the first part of the night – Let it Bleed, Castiel was more than unhelpful when Lisa and Ben (yes, they brought them back yet again) were kidnapped by Crowley’s goons. Remember last time when Cas threatened Crowley and ordered him to leave the boys alone? Yeah, he didn’t include other loved ones so Crowley took the family unit Dean worked hard to build and [...]

How not to kill a fan favourite character!

Some writers fail horribly every  now and again at giving a beloved character a proper departure. Instead of a hero’s death they get the boot in the most unceremonious way possible. Here is some character deaths that brought a lot of bad press to various shows.   10.Lucy Knight (Kellie Martin) – E.R.  One of the perky, happy go lucky optimistic doctors, Lucy quickly gained the hearts of the viewers. Always ready to help out and with a sharp mind she managed to establish herself as a fan favourite quite fast. Alas she was murdered in a way that had all of the E.R. fans up in arms – stabbed almost to death, saved on the table (dramatic so far) then she dies of a pulmonary embolism(not so much dramatic as plain unworthy of her character). Don’t get me wrong, I get that death is something that happens suddenly and it’s not always heroic, but this is television, I expect lies to be served with pretty little bows around them. 9. Alex Ryan (Aaron Jeffrey) – McLeod’s Daughter After playing the character of Alex Ryan for six and a half seasons and being the last remaining character from the original [...]

Supernatural – Caged Heart

After a two week long wait, finally Supernatural rolled around with a brand new episode. This episode had all the markings of a great one – Castiel was back, Meg was back and so was Crowley. All we needed was Chuck and all things would’ve been right with the world. But even so, this episode just didn’t feel whole to me. Like there was a big part of it missing, and no, it wasn’t Sam’s soul. We start off with Crowley and his attempts to discover purgatory via torture. He does have Sam and Dean on a short leash and so an endless supplies of demons high on the food chain coming quite often. But it seemed so wrong to have Crowley, who acts like such a bad ass (and who is the self-entitled King of Hell) be the guy that tortures the alpha. Killing him in a very anticlimactic way was I suppose a preface to his own equally anticlimactic demise. I already said it felt like this episode was lacking something, but alas it had some things that really felt like they were dropped in there for the sake of humour but fell flat. Like Castiel watching porn [...]

All dogs go to heaven – except for Lucky

Now, Supernatural took a weird turn this season, what with Sammy’s soul gone and loads of people being brought back from the dead. What happened this week? Let’s see. Some random, for now, guy gets killed in his car. Interesting, but not so much. However, Crowley comes into play. And with Mark Sheppard on board, you know that coolness is guaranteed. Let’s see – “you’d sell your brother for a dollar right now, if you really needed a soda” – that totally cemented him as a magnificent bastard in my book. Crowley proved the boys once more that he totally owns their asses, and he even inflicted some pain on our de-souled Sammy. I don’t think it did that much to Sam, but Dean still has the whole – I must protect thing going on, so he decided to listen to Crowley. And now he owns Crowley 10 quid, among other things. For some reason I thing Dean is somehow in Crowley’s good graces, since he actually gets offered a deal of some sort – get an Alpha and Sam gets his soul back. But since the writers seem to think we actually enjoy this convoluted story line they’ll probably [...]

Family Matters or Crowley’s long con

**SPOILERS ABOUND** Well…well…well. This episode was something else. Most episodes of Supernatural are, but this one was just…awesome. First things first. Castiel is back, helping Dean figure out what is wrong with Sam. After a scene that I am sure has spawned more fanfiction than the Harry Potter francize, it’s established by Castiel that Sam is at the moment soulless. He has been so since coming back from the cage. Some of the best lines come from Castiel – “Is he speaking in tongues? Are you speaking in tongues?” Right before digging into Sam and figuring out that for now the younger Winchester brother is empty. Castiel assumes that his soul is with Michael and Lucifer and despite Dean’s adamant demands that he should do something, he just doesn’t have that power. I have to admit, I love Dean, I really do, but he was annoying when talking to Cas. I get that he is upset about what’s going on with Sam, but Cas has told him repeatedly that there is a war going on in Heaven and Dean keeps making demands. Remember the old “You should show me some respect. I dragged you out of Hell. I can throw [...]

Weekend at Bobby’s

**SPOILERS AHEAD. DRIVE SAFELY!** I have had a recurring problem for the past 4 weeks since Supernatural entered its sixth season. Every week I say – “This episode is the best yet!”Then the next week rolls around and I say it again. Glad to see the show just keeps on getting better. Weekend at Bobby’s marked Jensen Ackles’s directorial debut and I must say, he did an amazing job. For those who have seen the episode this is obvious, for those who haven’t seen it – Go watch it! And for those that didn’t like it – Did we watch the same thing?! Ok, now that we got that out of the way let’s get down to business. This episode presents a side of Bobby we haven’t seen in the show before. What does he do in his spare time? When I say spare I obviously mean when we don’t see him on screen because we got to see just what goes on in his life when he doesn’t share the screen space with Sam and Dean. For me, and I am sure for many others, Bobby had this cozy up existence, all safely tucked into his salvage yard where [...]
