This film is about Carly who is part of the dance crew Jay 2-0. The crew are aiming to win the UK Street Dance Championship which can then take the winners to New York to represent the UK. The leader of the crew and Carly’s boyfriend, Jay, ditches the crew weeks before the final and so it falls on Carly to lead the crew to win.
They struggle to find somewhere to practice and this causes unease amongst the crew and they start to fall apart. When Carly is offered the chance of a free dance rehearsal space she jumps at it but it has a clause attached. The room is at a prestigious ballet school and in return for free use of the room Carly has to incorporate five of the ballet students into the crew. They have to deal with their differences and work together to ensure that they win the competition.
Some awesome dance moves, a great soundtrack and some of the UK’s best dance talent including Diversity, Flawless and George Sampson makes this an enjoyable film. Step Up it isn’t but still good to watch.
Here’s the trailer for Street Dance, take a look.
