Not too long ago I began watching The Vampire Diaries again, admittedly, not out of interest for the ever present, never ending love triangle between Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), but for Klaus (Joseph Morgan), the psychotic hybrid that helped the show grow in one season more than it’s usual stories ever did. Despite my initial dislike for the teenage drama that I thought a hundred year old vampires would be safe from, the show wasn’t half bad, I actually found myself anticipating each new episode, thinking about the show at random points during the day. And then it all went downhill with the last two episodes that have generated more hate than even Tumblr could handle. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the story here it goes. Take one human girl, Elena, add two vampire men – Stefan and Damon, mix with some witchcraft, ghosts and werewolves and you get what I’m talking about. To complete the vampire hysteria of later years a TV show about vampires emerged on our screens. It is based on a book, but aren’t most vampire shows? The book was written some 15 years ago by L.J. Smith and it is a best seller in its own rights, had been so long before Twilight was a twinkle in its author’s eye. However successful the books have been, the TV show seems to have gained more popularity, quite possibly due to the incredibly good looking cast they threw at us. Don’t get me wrong! I am not implying they don’t have talent, but let’s face it, the first thing you see in a show’s pilot is how they look. The cast includes Ian Somerhalder/Damon Salvatore – some might remember him from Lost as Boone, Paul Wesley/Stefan Salvatore – from Wolf Lake and Nina Dobrev/Elena Gilbert. These are just the lead actors of the show, but have no fear, the supporting cast are equally talented and good looking. But enough about that!
